Following the successful monographic exhibitions in Venice, Bergamo, Paris and Washington, the Scuderie del Quirinale describes the art of an important protagonist of the Renaissance, the Venetian Lorenzo Lotto. The exhibition displays masterpieces from museums all over the world and considers his entire pictorial work, from religious paintings to his great altar-pieces. At the same time, it emphasises the poetic nature of the artist, who managed to reconcile traditional elements of Renaissance painting with those which already anticipated the Baroque period. His artistic path was complex, and while drawing inspiration from some Nordic painters as well as from the great masters of Venice, Rome and Lombardy, he maintained an expressive language rich in originality and unedited solutions. The extraordinary works displayed at the Scuderie represent a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the intimate and restless painting of who today is considered to be one of the most sensitive interpreters of the human soul.
